Compared to last year's Macworld/iWorld, Mac utility developer ZeoBit is taking a much different approach to its presence on the show floor. Gone is the big booth, the blarring music, and the ladies clad in tight clothes and heels. This year's ZeoBit booth is very low key, with just a few staffers in MacKeeper t-shirts.
You might see a similar approach to ZeoBit's Web advertising. Even though it has it detractors, ZeoBit's agressive Web advertising worked to create awareness for MacKeeper and its other software utilities, says Dima Kozachok, a communications specialist with ZeoBit. But this year, Kozachok says the company plans to tone down its Web campaign.
MacKeeper programs didn't recieve a major update for Macworld/iWorld, but the software continues to be the mainstay for the company. ZeoBit also plans to introduce a cloud storage service later this year.
ZeoBit is at booth 814 at Macworld/iWorld.

Is a supersized iPad on the way? Will Apple?s low-cost iPhone be an unholy chimera? Will Steve Wozniak taint a Steve Jobs movie by association? Would any of these questions ever be asked in polite conversation? The remainders for Monday, January 28, 2013 are questioning their sanity.
Apple ready to release additional iPad model; likely 128GB version (Updated: Pricing) (9to5Mac)
Rumor has it that a 128GB iPad is waiting in the wings, possibly supplementing the current models. The information via retail channels is supported by code found in iTunes 11 as well as a beta version of iOS 6.1. I say it?s all disinformation for Apple?s plan to release a 1TB?you heard it here first! (Annnnnd probably also last.)

With a pixel density of 326ppi, Apple's 4-inch iPhone 5 is home to one of the more, though by no means most pixelated, high-res screens on the market, but Samsung is reportedly working to one-up Cupertino and a number of others with its next generation of smartphones.
The sometimes-reliable DigiTimes reported Tuesday that Samsung Display is working on "new pixel layouts" for small-size AMOLED panels intended for its upcoming handsets.
According to unnamed industry sources, the technology implements "hexagon and diamond-shaped pixel layouts" to push pixel density above 440ppi, a significant boost over rival Apple.
The report noted that the side-by-side layout currently in use for AMOLED display panels makes it "difficult to achieve" 440ppi or higher, which is why Samsung had to attack the problem a different way.
While the current Samsung Galaxy S3 features a Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 306ppi, DigiTimes sources are already referring to the next-generation panel as "one of the highest resolution displays" available.
Sources claim Samsung will use a laser-based LITI production method to manufacture the higher-resolution display panel, which might make its debut in the upcoming Galaxy S4 handset.
While Apple claims to have the best screen out there, rivals like HTC's Droid DNA already house displays marked at 440ppi. If Samsung pushes its screens above 440ppi, it will set the stage for a pixel war of epic proportions.
As noted, DigiTimes can be hit or miss, but with manufacturers continually squeezing more pixels into every inch in an attempt to claim the title of "most advanced" on the market, we wouldn't be surprised if this rumor bears some high-res fruit.

The HTC Mozart may be the first handset in the Taiwanese firm's fleet to received the Windows Phone 7.8.
That's according to Polish site Windows-Phone.pl, which claims to have spoken to an (unconfirmed) HTC employee who revealed the news.
Now our Polish isn't the best, but we believe the source said something along the lines of "currently the HTC Mozart is the only phone which has been confirmed for the Windows Phone 7.8 update."
The employee went on to reveal that the update would start rolling out towards the end of February or the start of March, which would correspond with reports suggesting the update will arrive with manufacturers at the end of January.
TechRadar has spoken to HTC and a spokesperson told us: "We are currently reviewing our upgrade plans for our Windows Phone product portfolio, but don't have anything to announce at this stage.
"In terms of the update, we can say that this is a Microsoft update, which will therefore roll out to all Windows Phone 7 devices."
However, it seems that there is some manufacturer influence: LG has previously admitted the Optimus 7 won't be getting the update any time soon, so it seems the brands are completely hands off with their handsets.

The Critter Chronicles (Steam link) is the prequel to The Book Of Unwritten Tales, an adventure game that, I confess, I?d never actually heard of. However, the game?s developers say that The Critter Chronicles stands on its own, telling the story of how Nate Bonnet and the muppet-esque Critter first meet and become friends, before moving onto the world-saving adventures that they encounter in The Book Of Unwritten Tales.
Nate is a kind of medieval version of Han Solo, and he starts off in The Critter Chronicles by winning an airship called The Mary in a game of cards?just as Han Solo won the Millenium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. The game also nods towards Star Wars in occasional lines of dialogue, emphasizing the point that Nate is a rather mercenary character who eventually becomes less selfish as a result of his adventures with Critter.
Like its predecessor, Critter Chronicles very much follows in the style of classic point-and-click adventures from the ?80s, such as Myst and Monkey Island). You use your mouse to click on various objects on the screen in order to examine them, and then figure out how you can use those objects to solve various puzzles.

Lenovo is looking into ways to boost its mobile business, and according to the firm, a partnership with Research in Motion may just be the way to go about it.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Lenovo Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming told Bloomberg, "We are looking at all opportunities - RIM and many others."
"We'll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders," Wong added.
The comment immediately set off a flurry of excitement, including a 3 percent rise in RIM stock at the thought of a Lenovo bid.
Over the last year RIM has been changing its tune when it comes to hardware partnerships, shifting from a firm no-sell policy to a more open consideration of selling its hardware production side after launch of BlackBerry 10.
Meanwhile Lenovo, despite rhetoric of leading a PC plus era in the tech industry, is looking for ways to make a splash in the ever-increasing mobile marketplace.
On paper a Lenovo/RIM deal seems like a match made in tech heaven.
But there are significant hurdles that could easily break down Lenovo and RIM's partnership possibilities, chiefly from government regulations.
An acquisition of RIM's size could require approval from the Canadian government to pass. Earlier this week, Canadian Industry Minister Christian Paradis responded to the possibility of a RIM sale telling Reuters that, "We hope to see RIM remain a global leader and player, and make sure it can grow organically."
Any deal or partnership would also of course hinge on how the first crop of BlackBerry 10 handsets fare after the Jan. 30 launch. RIM may be more open to a deal these days, but it isn't in any hurry to sell if BB10 is a success.

Ofcom has thrown open the doors to the UK's 4G spectrum auction to the seven hungry bidders eager to get a slice of the 800MHz and 2.6GHz action.
It's the largest mobile spectrum auction ever to take place in the UK with the space on offer equivalent to three quarters of the current mobile spectrum.
In the running for the spectrum are Everything Everywhere Limited, HKT (UK) Company Limited, Hutchison 3G UK Limited (Three), MLL Telecom Ltd, Niche Spectrum Ventures Limited (read: BT), Telefonica UK Limited (O2) and Vodafone Limited.
Sadly we won't be able to keep you updated on the progress of the auction and how much money the bidders are ploughing into the 4G cause with Ofcom keeping everything behind closed doors until it concludes.
More frustratingly there doesn't seem to be a specific end date for the auction, with Ofcom saying it will "conclude in a number of weeks."
The auction will allow more networks to offer 4G mobile data, with the likes of O2, Vodafone and 3 wanting to challenge EE which was allowed to launch its 4G service early.
It's not just 4G mobile connectivity on the cards however with the likes of BT looking to acquire some of the spectrum to improve its broadband coverage, especially in rural areas.

It wasn't a bad year for iPlayer in 2012, with the BBC's on-demand service raking in more requests for TV programmes than ever before.
For the first time, the humble PC fell to less than half of all total iPlayer requests in December 2012 as mobiles and tablets took centre stage.
The nation as a whole seems to be fully embracing the whole iPlayer thing, with Brits spending 34 per cent more time watching TV shows in iPlayer than ever before, and a giant 177 per cent leap in people accessing the service from mobiles and tablets.
Downloads of the iPlayer mobile apps hit 14 million across the year, possibly helped along by the BBC's introduction of offline downloads in September 2012 - although it's only on iOS at the moment, it still garnered 10.8 million programme downloads.
The most popular show of the year was the Tim Berners-Lee-featuring Olympics Opening Ceremony industro-rave, which nabbed 3,326 million views on catch-up alone.
Other winners in the great iPlayer popularity contest were Top Gear, Sherlock, The Apprentice, Doctor Who and, against all the odds, The Voice UK.
And, proving that New Year's Day is the most tedious day of the year, January 1 2013 saw the most requests ever seen in 24 hours.

Just last week, the first mention of specifications for Huawei's rumored Ascend P2 smartphone were released.
According to that report, the Ascend P2 will boast a quad-core 1.8GHz Hisilicon K3V2 processor, a 5-inch screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, and run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
This was of course after Huawei neglected to mention such a phone during CES 2013, where it also happened to bring a small cadre of more than capable phones for display.
Despite all the focus the Ascend W1 and Ascend Mate earned just a short while ago, attention has quickly shifted to the mysterious P2.
Further fanning of the flames came on Thursday, when frequent phone photo leaker @evleaks posted the first supposed image of the Ascend P2.
The image posted is reportedly an official press shot of the Ascend P2, which Huawei was apparently hoping to keep under wraps until Mobile World Congress next month.
Though the smartphone does look rather sharp, if not a little boring with the standard white rear plate, there's no telling just how accurate this image could be.
Huawei hasn't even hinted at the fact that the P2 exists, let alone announced that it may be in the pipeline, so seeing it peak out more than a month before its supposed release makes us a bit wary.
That said, @evleaks does have a history of spoiling Huawei's fun, and could have done so here again with this leaked shot.
With one month to go until MWC, we certainly won't have long to wait to find out whether or not this early look at the Ascend P2 was accurate.

Another day, another Samsung Galaxy S4 rumour and this time it's another press image claiming to be the hotly anticipated smartphone.
The image in question has been chilling out on Picasa for over a month with the folks over a BGR stumbling across it recently, and it shows a handset which is less rounded than the current Samsung Galaxy S3.
When the Galaxy S3 was launched some eyebrows were raised over its design as the rather squared look of the Samsung Galaxy S2 had been radically overhauled for a smooth, more rounded affair.
According to this latest image leak the Galaxy S4 will take design cues from both handsets to form an aesthetical compromise between the two.
Another thing to note on this image is the date shown of the phone's display ? Monday April 22 - which could be the launch event or Galaxy S4 release date, with several other reports pointing towards action in April.
As with all the image leaks running up to a handset's launch there's no guarantee that this is a genuine snap, it's more likely a Photoshop forgery but we won't know for sure until the Samsung Galaxy S4 is unveiled.

Even in the age of YouTube, shooting and sharing on-the-spot video can be a challenge. Unless you have a genuine vision of what you want your movie to look like, it?s often an overwhelming chore to decide what to include and what to trim, what music to use or not, what transitions look best, and whether to use artistic filters. The decision-making can be baffling and discouraging?and despite your best efforts, the end product can still look cheesy.
A new video creation and sharing app called Montaj, due to arrive in Apple?s App Store next week, seeks to both remove the creative complexity from the process and at the same time deliver high quality video that crackles with originality and creative spark. You can use Montaj to make anything from wedding videos, documentaries, instructional videos, news reports, travelogues, or just whatever your dogs are up to this afternoon.

Smartphones get dropped, some more than others, which is why manufacturers release rugged devices for the super clumsy, with the Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 set to be next off the production line.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover Extreme didn't really blow us away during our review, gaining a mediocre three out of five stars, so we hope the XCover 2 steps up to the plate a little better.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy XCover 2 will sport a 4-inch TFT display, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, 4GB of internal storage and come running Android Jelly Bean.
There's nothing particularly inspiring about the Galaxy XCover 2 spec-wise, but its party piece is on the exterior ? it will be dust- and water-resistant, as well as being capable of taking a few knocks along the way.
Apparently the Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 will make an appearance at MWC 2013, and TechRadar will be in attendance just in case it does.
In terms of the Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 release date and potential price, we're still completely in the dark. But as soon as we hear anything, we'll let you know.

Rumors surrounding Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone have been more and more frequent the past few weeks, giving some credence to the idea an announcement of some sort is forthcoming.
Of course, reports on the successor to the incredibly popular Galaxy S3 have been making the rounds since that device hit the market.
Now the supposed Galaxy S4 has appeared on benchmarking site Antutu Benchmarks, revealing a little bit more about the specs.
It would appear that not only will the S4 run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, but there could even be an actual eight core processor providing all the horsepower.
Though it was originally believed the Exynos 5440 quad-core processor would find its way into the Galaxy S4, the new specs tell a slightly different story.
The processor inside might still be an Exynos, but based on the benchmarking, it would appear the new Octa 5 eight-core processor is running the show.
The Exynos Octa 5 was clocked at 1.8GHz, meaning the S4 should have plenty of juice to make the most of the rumored 4.99-inch Super AMOLED HD screen with 440PPI.
To make things even better, the processor was supposedly identified in both the Korean and international versions of the Galaxy S4.
There's still no precise date or timeframe for the Galaxy S4's release, and even though Samsung hasn't technically announced the phone's existence yet, the company did say it wouldn't be out before May 2013.
If this benchmarking ends up being on point, Samsung could have quite the beast of a smartphone on the horizon, and one that both Google and Apple will be taking note of before releasing their latest devices.

The first QWERTY keyboard-toting BlackBerry 10 device may be at a disadvantage, with apps not optimised for its display.
According to Canadian news site the Financial Post, Victoria Berry from RIM has said the firm won't release the SDK for its QWERTY handsets until after the January 30 launch date.
This would mean developers cannot adapt their applications for the smaller display ahead of time meaning devices will go to market without properly coded native apps.
It's not like the QWERTY keyboard has gone off the boil, with RIM senior director Bob El-Hawary telling Vodafone recently the firm "will also be announcing a physical keyboard device" at the January 30 launch event.
El-Hawary was also quick to point out that the number of new apps being submitted to BB 10 is breaking records: "we're confident that we'll launch with tens of thousands of apps, a record for the launch of any new mobile platform."
With so many apps apparently ready to go, it's even more surprising that the physical keyboard device - currently referred to as the BlackBerry X10 - won't be able to take full advantage of them from the word go.
We're sure all will become clear at the end of the month when RIM finally launches BlackBerry 10 and hopefully gets its business back on track.
