O2 has confirmed it's committed to getting the Android 4.1 update out to its customers as quickly as possible, but it may not be the first to do so.
TechRadar spoke to Ronan Dunne, O2 CEO, who revealed that the network is dedicated to providing customers with a solid user experience, and thus takes its time to check everything is in order.
Dunne told TechRadar: "Our approach is we always get it out as fast as we possibly can, but we will always take the decision, like we've done with some handsets, that if it doesn't work properly and it isn't stable we'll take the flack and hold it back, to avoid damaging the customer experience."
Every release tested
There's no reason to believe that there will be any major issues with the Android Jelly Bean release, but you can never be sure, and Dunne is keen to ensure that O2 provides its customers with the best experience.
Dunne explained: "The one thing that we do though is we test every release to make sure it meets our commitment to give customers a stable experience, as there's always handset variances in every signal release.
"For that reason there have been a number of occasions when we've released later, but we've avoided our customers having problems with bugs and other things."
Of course O2 will have to wait for handset manufacturers to finish tinkering with the Jelly Bean update before it can be rolled out to customers, but you can keep up to date with that with our Android 4.1 Jelly Bean: who will get it article.
